I hate flowers. I paint them because they’re cheaper than models and they don’t move. – Georgia O’Keeffe
Pakistan is known for kite flying during this season, and better known for the deaths caused by kite flying. Be it getting a fatal cut from illegally manufactured metal sharpened string or just slipping off the roof top in excitement, it all happens in Lahore. While the government had put ban on kite flying few years back, it was not something that could be a permanent solution. Browsing through various articles about the fatal kite flying activity, I came across this pic, that has a plastic string attached in a loop to the two wheeler. This plastic loop, although very cheap, can protect the rider from fatal cuts as the almost invisible strings cross their path.

I recently added Nokia E61 to my list of acquired gadgets. After two days of research, reading reviews and comparing it with Nokia 6708, I went for E61. The phone has a QWERTY keyboard and a large display that makes it look attractive. At little over 110 gms and under Rs 20K, this phone is by far the best deal one can get in Nokia products.

From Clark Sorensen’s site:
Clark Sorensen has created some of the most amazing and beautiful urinals one is likely to ever see. Each is meticulously hand built and one of a kind – formed from high fire porcelain and fired to cone 10 (2300° F). These pieces are magnificent works of art but they are also fully functioning vitreous porcelain fixtures that can be plumbed and used in a bathroom.
I am interested to know who is going to invest $7000 on a fscking urinal.
After Pakistan, it’s Thailand’s turn to display the fall of democracy.
Thai state of emergency declared after ‘coup attempt’
Tanks surrounded government buildings in Bangkok today and the Thai Prime Minister declared a state of emergency amid fears of a military coup.
I hope this cleans up the nation a bit.
After countless nights of listening the track Waris Shah (Pinjar OST), my former roommate Ranjit and I had several arguments on what it actually meant.
As a background to people unfamiliar with the track or the movie, I suggest you should watch the movie once. Pinjar is the only movie after Tamas that has ever potrayed problems of partition in a true sense. Many movies have shown people walking across borders in 1947, but none actually highlighted what actually happened on the journey. Hindus and Muslims took equal turns to inflict an orgy of murders, looting and rape to their respective counterparts. Whether it was in Amritsar or Lahore, the impact of lives of migrants will always be the same. How India became Hindustan is yet another story that you should consider investigating through the eyes of Khushwant Singh or Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
I am neither a Desh Bhakt not a fanatic hindustan-fundamentalist. I just enjoyed listening to the track Waris Shah for the calm music it is composed in. For the first few times, I just though it to be yet another punjabi ballet, till Ranjit once cried his heart out to explain me what it actually means. So after reading few books I finally came across this verse and its translation.

I salute the nation that survived Tsunami, Congress Raj, countless religious riots and atleast 3 official wars with our immediate neighbours.
