After 13 hour work day and a 2 hour drive home (and less than 6 hrs before i leave for work again), here I am following Steve’s keynote address at the ongoing Mac World 2008 on twitter, TUAW and several other sites. Mac Book Air is surely an engineering marvel, but not a usable one.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? We make tools for these kinds of people. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who actually do. Think Different

Into the third week of using iPhone, I can justify carrying $400 toy strapped around my belt. Believe me, the phone lives upto every iota of hype it created before the launch. Be it user interface, glass screen compared to glossy plastic, integration with google apps or just the looks - each component makes it a proud member of my apple gadget army.
After 4 ipods, an ibook, host of accessories and dominating my rss reader list, a product from Apple can barely keep itself off my desk. And when it’s a super hyped phone, it stands no chance but to submit to my fingers. I got my iPhone 1.1.2 OTB up and running on Airtel network just over two weeks ago. So it was obvious for me to write a rant justifying the last minute Christmas gift to myself. This is why it makes sense to buy iPhone in India and use it before it is officially launched.
- Great Phone with Great Looks: One of the nicest looking gadgets around. If you care about classy, yet very usable stuff iPhone is for you. It sure will turn most heads if you plan to flaunt it.
- Workable Camera: If you happen to click photographs on the go for your moblog or just to keep your flickr stream running, this phone can help you survive. The 2 MP camera isn’t the best option when you compare to the 5 MP in Nokia N95, but 3.5 inch glossy screen makes clicking pictures a pleasure!
- Music on the go: For people who actually travel a lot using public transport or otherwise, iPhone is a perfect example of a convergent device - a basic phone + best portable mp3 player + great web browsing machine.
- Time - “Gadget of the Year” : How many times you get a chance to play around a proudly own a gadget rated so highly by Time Magazine?
So the next few posts will evolve as I explore this new gadget. In the meantime, run and grab one for yourself too!
Lack of updates on this website for the last couple of months was ignited by my hectic work schedule and fueled by the expired web hosting account. After juggling with various information security standards, documents and policies, I was neck deep in looking for “cheap and best” webhosting provider. I was sure of my needs - uptime, secure, ssh access and enough space for my website and backup. None of these were provided by the current host Kazix so it was time to change. After considering few options - i finally chose Media Temple’s grid server package to try out. Choosing (mt) was easy - it provided me the features I was looking for, had good reputation and discount was awesome. The change of host was smooth and quick with no data loss.
On a personal front, I couldn’t control myself and got an iPhone. HTC Touch that I used for about 6 months served me very well and I had no issues with it till I ditched it for not being as attractive as the latest apple gizmo. For those who have been reading my blog, and for those who have just been peeping off and on, get ready for my reboot.
