The kilometer long processions, bursting firecrackers on roads, blocking traffic and throwing away posters and leaflets are just some of the things that our student leaders enjoy doing. Ironically on paper it has all been shown to cost less that Rs 10,000 which is the stipulated budget for student poll elections. A leading daily newspaper estimates that the parent political party (Congress for NSUI and BJP for ABVP) spend around Rs 50,00,000 per candidate.
